Copy of an email I sent to a few anglophone contacts after I translated it.
Hello,
I am writing you today about the SQIL, hoping you can help out. With only five small months before September 15th 2007, the more we talk about it today, the more we can expect diversified and interesting activities. This is the only email (with its translation) of the sort I will be sending to individuals from my address book. I hope you can forgive this small intrusion.
The Québec Free Software Week (SQIL) celebrates free software and open source software all over Québec, each autumn since 2004. All the activities are organized by you (the Québec population). The SQIL provides you with a website to coordinate your efforts as well as the experience aquired in the last three years. A promotional kit including posters and flyers will be available on demand.
How to participate:
- promote the SQIL in your environment (and encourage others to do the same)
- organize an activity
- play a role in the provincial organization of the SQIL
- donate or become a sponsor
- develop a partnership
- recruit new members for FACIL, Linux-Québec and other local associations
- write about free software and open source software in Québec: community, business, personal, etc.
- design a nice banner or a nice web button for the SQIL
- register on the website
I thank you in advance for the support you can bring to the SQIL :)
